Hi! I’m Elisabeth Sung, an artist, illustrator, and children’s book author. Originally from the mountains of Western North Carolina, I earned my B.A. in Studio Art in 2018 and my M.A. in Early Childhood Special Education in 2022. For the past seven years, I’ve worked on a range of freelance illustration projects, including creating artwork for several children’s books by independent authors. My debut Author/Illustrator book, Baby Diver, was a Clavis Key Colors finalist in 2024 and will be published in 2026.

I have always been drawn to the warmth and timeless qualities of classic illustrators like Beatrix Potter and Shirley Hughes while bringing in my own quirky whimsical style. In addition, I am part Korean, and my cross-cultural family background, together with my experience in special education, has deeply shaped my art and storytelling. I strive to create illustrations and narratives that highlight diverse and underrepresented voices—offering readers a sense of connection and belonging.

After several years living in South Korea, my husband and I are now enjoying sunny Phoenix, AZ. When I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me baking cinnamon rolls or watching K-dramas with my dog, Stevie.
